Eggan Youth Leader

The City is looking for a fun, engaging, action-oriented and creative individual to help maintain and grow programs at the Eggan Youth Center!


Basic Function

Supervise, coordinate, and lead after-school program activities and special events such as Kids’ Kamp for youth primarily aged 2nd through 9th grade as well as work with various youth groups and organizations; evaluate programs to recommend modifications; problem solve, serve as chaperone and/or supervisor for birthday parties and various special events; maintain attendance records and other various reporting information; open and secure building.

  • The incumbent shall work well under pressure; meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines. 
  • The incumbent shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Help develop, plan, and coordinate youth after-school activities and special events.
  • Work with various youth programs and organizations.
  • Evaluate programs to recommend modifications to Youth Recreation and Aquatics Supervisor.
  • Act as chaperone and/or facility supervisor for youth dances and other varied events.
  • Assist in maintaining records and logs for such records as attendance.
  • Use proper discipline actions for youth displaying inappropriate behavior as described in the Youth Recreation Leader’s Handbook.
  • Maintain proper documentation and contact parents of youth displaying inappropriate behavior as deemed necessary by following the Youth Recreation Leader’s Handbook.
  • Unlock buildings and prepare them for public attendance.
  • Secure the building after working, making sure all areas are clean, all doors are locked, and appropriate lights are shut off.

Travel Required

Staff is expected to drive City vehicles or ride passenger to Kids’ Kamp and other destinations.

Required Education and Experience

  • Graduation from high school or GED
  • Some experience in youth and recreation preferred

  • Valid Drivers License
