LOCATION SUMMARY
The Red Rock Ranch, located 25 miles south of Dillon, comprises approximately 12,000 acres of deeded land and grazing leases. The ranch’s mission is to manage the land in an economically sustainable and ecologically sensitive manner, while promoting the conservation of native species and their habitats. On the Red Rock, this means running a bison operation while enhancing the rangelands and riparian areas along 7 miles of Red Rock River within the ranch boundaries, an iconic trout fishery for southwest Montana. The Ranch is home to an abundant array of wildlife, waterfowl, and aquatic species, as well as majestic scenery of the Lima Peaks and Tendoy mountain range to the south. The Red Rock’s growing bison operation consists of a yearling and 2-year old heifer stocker operation. The ranch uses planned holistic grazing to manage for bison production, rangeland health, and wildlife habitat. The Red Rock is proud to be an innovative producer who focuses on low stress handling techniques and training, and employs Management Intensive Grazing (MIG) with the use of temporary fencing to optimize animal performance and pasture management on our irrigated land, and In-Herding techniques on our riparian pastures for vegetation enhancement and ecological health. Our bison graze year-round with minimal winter supplementation.
