Manufacturing Engineer Co-op/Intern

Summary of Position:

This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Lead of the Design and Manufacturing Engineering team. The main responsibility will be to create and maintain documentation that enables the efficient and accurate manufacture of mobile (12V) electro-mechanical control systems. Documentation will include work instructions and end user documentation. The candidate will require excellent writing skills, ability to create standardized documentation around light assembly work, troubleshooting skills, organized thinking, record keeping, and basic electrical knowledge. Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical and Electrical engineers are encouraged to apply. The internship position will be for summer months only. The co-op position will be a combination of a summer internship plus a single semester, trimester, or two quarters.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Create and refine work instructions for production floor

·         Provide production support on a daily basis

·         Participate/lead in design and production validation builds

·         Assist/lead in continuous improvement opportunities

·         Propose, specify, and design tooling/fixturing to facilitate manufacturing

Basic Qualifications:

·         Working towards Bachelor of Applied Science (BSIE, BSME, BSEE) or equivalent

·         Able to work independently and within groups

·         Able to synthesize a solution when design inputs are vague or incomplete

·         Comfortable in multi-tasking situations

·         Comfortable with priority shifts

·         Selfless, can-do attitude, willing to learn

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience in the manufacturing industry

·         Experience with creation of work instructions

·         Familiarity with marine and/or RV products in professional or recreational environment

·         Familiarity with ABYC requirements

·         Experience with new product development cycles

·         Shop/bench fabrication and/or assembly skills
