Global Finance and Accounting Intern

Summary
The JR Simplot Company Global Finance and Accounting Teams are recruiting for multiple internship opportunities across summer 2025. This is your opportunity to learn first-hand about the company and responsibilities of our Accounting, Treasury, Financial Planning and Analysis, Tax, or Enterprise Solutions.
Accounting: This intern will assist accountants with routine month-end and year-end processes as needed. This may include, but not limited to account reconciliations, journal entries, control testing, research projects, and completion of various tax forms and census reports.
Treasury: Treasury oversees Simplot cash management/investing, debt structure, foreign currency exposures, and hedging activities. Treasury is seeking an intern to support the Risk Management team in analyzing, executing, and monitoring derivative transactions to hedge risks in commodities, foreign currency, and fixed income markets.
Enterprise Financial Planning & Analysis: EFP&A is responsible for consolidating Simplot company financial projections, cash forecasting, investment portfolio analysis, helping to shape financial strategies and targets, and distilling complex financial information into digestible and actionable materials for leaders. An intern in this organization will work on projects focused in one or several of these core areas.
Tax: This intern will prepare federal, state and international income tax returns. Assist with the compilation of various financial information reports to support tax returns and accounting. Prepare sales/use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions across the US. Compile of information to support sales tax audits. Assist with tax research and documenting findings. Monitor and record property tax bills and assessments using tax technology. Prepare asset listings for property tax reporting and payments.
Enterprise Solutions: ES includes groups such as Accounts Payable, Cash Receipts, Travel and Expenses and the Support for each group. An intern would be working to gain knowledge in policies and procedures for J.R. Simplot Company’s Payables and Receivables. An intern would be a self-starter determining top priorities to strategize for the day with their supervisor. This would be a great opportunity to develop as a professional communicator.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute large improvement projects in coordination with your mentor and project team
- Deliver presentation on your experience to JR Simplot Company executives
- Recording and maintain accurate and complete financial records
- Prepare and review weekly costing reports
- Insightful analysis into business processes or industry topics, such as company comparable analysis, valuation, pricing, and forecasting
- Research and data entry
Typical Education
- Must be currently enrolled in an academic accounting or finance program, from a nationally accredited educational facility/university and working toward an accounting or finance degree
- Completed at least an Intermediate Accounting course required for accounting department internships
- Must be at least a Junior or above
- Accounting / Finance degree program highly preferred
Relevant Experience
- Ability to quickly learn routine computer applications.
- Self-starter with a working knowledge of excel
- Motivated to seek opportunities for growth and development
- Ability to meet deadlines and work in a team environment.
