Manufacturing Engineer, Amps

This Manufacturing Engineer position is based in Gibson Amps Petaluma CA, and is responsible for the development, capability, sustainment, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes, and systems to improve safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, & reduce costs.  

The Manufacturing Engineer performs at a high proficient problem solving, & project management level, this position also performs at a high proficient level when applying Lean Six Sigma tools to quality, & productivity projects 

 

Essential Functions 

  • Support for all safety programs and initiatives: Machine guarding, implement safety observations, ergonomics analysis and improvement
  • Support for all quality programs and initiatives: QMS implementation, process capability analysis, RMA analysis & improvement plan, internal quality analysis & improvement plan
  • Leads creation, & implementation of Standard Work: Work instructions, VSM, Flow Diagrams, standard work sheet, Yamazumi (Balance Charts)
  • Leads root cause analysis for manufacturing issues, implementing containment, corrective and preventive actions using problem solving tools, and improving processes capability, yielding improvements in product quality.
  • Develops and implements manufacturing processes, layouts, jigs, and fixtures for new and existing products. Applying lean manufacturing principles to create continuous flow
  • Leads productivity projects to drive efficiency improvements, & cost reduction, including projects that require capital investment with a ROI
  • Applies Lean Sigma tools as needed to required projects
  • Supports new product introduction, creating, updating, & training on standard work
  • Supports production on process sustainment, to reduce process waste and variation
  • Leads process capability projects to increase capacity, & reduce cost

Required Skills/Abilities 

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) for all levels
  • Knowledge and experience with CAD software for 2D and 3D modeling, such as AutoCAD, & SolidWorks
  • LSS Green belt certification
  • Strong communication skills, capable of effectively presenting information
  • Solution oriented approach to challenges/issues.

Education and Experience 

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in engineering required
  • Minimum of 3 years in Manufacturing Process Management
  • Guitar experience preferred but not required

  • Supplier manufacturing locations

 

Travel Requirements 

  • Less than 10% to local Gibson facilities

 

Physical Demands 

  • Basic physical stances and actions (sitting, standing, walking)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
