Process Engineer

Peet’s Coffee has experienced breakthrough sales growth over the last few years. We are looking for Process Engineers to help us improve our equipment, our work processes and establish systems to take our supply chains to the next level of performance stability. This will be instrumental in achieving the next S-Curve in business growth.
What does it take to be a Successful Process Engineer? In addition to modeling Peet's culture and values, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Build Technical Mastery
- Become a technical master of a manufacturing or warehousing technology (i.e. Roasting, Packing, Case picking, Shipping, Transportation, etc.) Complete a qualification presentation to demonstrate your knowledge.
- Qualify in an operating area in the Manufacturing Plant or Warehouse
- Build Mastery in Company Systems / Work Processes to manage safety, quality, equipment efficiency, productivity, cost, service, & morale
- Update Training Materials to enable best-in-class capability-building. Assist in providing training to new employees in your area of technical expertise
Solve Problems / Eliminate Losses
- Qualify / participate in the loss analysis process and quarterly loss elimination cycles
- Qualify to the advanced level in Standard Work and Problem-Solving processes
- Participate in the department monthly Plan-Do-Check-Act process
- Coach/Lead problem-solving efforts that are triggered from the daily direction setting meeting
- Analyze data by leveraging Line Event Data Systems, Warehouse Management Systems, Power BI, Excel, etc.
Implement Systems to prevent problem re-occurrence
- Implement daily management systems like safety behavior observation, quality inspection system, centerline system, changeover system, defect handling system, productivity management systems that eliminate losses.
- Own a system to deliver results improvement. Monitor system KPI’s to ensure output of the system is achieved. Analyze system performance and take action to get to root cause when the system results are off track
Lead Projects
- Qualify in Capital Project Management and Validation Processes (Commissioning, Qualification, Verification)
- Lead savings projects, equipment replacement projects & new initiatives in your business
- Qualify in Net Present Value (NPV) analysis to determine project payout

Who You Are
- Be a strong leader, with demonstrated experience in leading teams to achieve excellent results
- Have practical experience through internships in manufacturing, engineering, warehousing, or supply chain (or less than 2 years of full-time experience after graduation.)
- Have a knack for data-based problem-solving
- Enjoy working in a team-environment and building great relationships with their coworkers.
- Be able to work quickly, embrace and learn new information, multi-task and incorporate feedback into personal performance
- Is able to communicate effectively via email, conference calls, presentations, etc.

The target annual base salary range for this position is $84,000-$112,000. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
