Summer of Service Corps Member, Jun 2025 - Aug 2025, AmeriCorps NCCC

What is AmeriCorps NCCC?

The mission of AmeriCorps NCCC is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through team-based national and community service. Serving with Summer of Service is a great way work with your hands, discover something different, and reach new heights of personal and professional growth.

Position Overview:

Service will be full-time for 2 months on a team of 8–12 people. You and your team will travel to a community in need to complete one project during your service timeframe.

Training for Summer of Service classes will be held at either the Southwest Region in Aurora, CO or at the North Central Region in Vinton, IA. Please note, you are not able to choose your campus but can express a preference in your application.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • To serve as a Corps Member, you must be between 18-26 years old. You may apply to Summer of Service at 17, if you will turn 18 before arriving on campus.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident of the U.S.
  • Must pass an initial drug screening test upon arrival to the program. A positive test on a drug screen for any substance (including marijuana) at any time during service could result in dismissal from the program.
  • Must be available for 2 months of full-time service consisting of some travel.

Corp Member Duties: 

  • You will perform direct, hands-on service in the areas of disaster response and recovery, environmental stewardship and/or natural resource management, affordable housing, and/or other types of community-focused service activities.
  • Undergo intensive training directly from NCCC staff and project partners.
  • Learn and grow with a team of your peers and gain valuable work and life experiences.

During Service, You Will Receive:

  • Basic expenses, including communal housing, meals, and a limited health benefit
  • All program-related travel, including to your training location, projects, and back home after your service term
  • A modest living allowance for your personal expenses
  • Valuable training in leadership, technical skills, teamwork, and more
  • Forbearance for federally backed student loans; after you successfully complete your term of service, you are eligible to have the interest incurred during service paid in full

After Service, You Will Receive:

  • Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of a pro-rated amount of $1,550 to use on future educational expenses or to pay back qualified student loans
