Portfolio Research Summer Intern

Intern Overview

ClearBridge Investments is offering an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students looking to gain experience in the Asset Management industry.  Our 10-week summer internship program will provide exposure to and enhancement of your skills and knowledge of the equity investment business.  Our interns gain hands-on working experience as well as the opportunity to participate in our development program which includes: learning about the various ClearBridge products and functions as well as our fundamental research process.  The interns also get to participate in a group project and other social and volunteer events.

Position Overview

ClearBridge Investments is seeking an intern to provide fundamental research support to a team of Analyst and Portfolio Managers in its New York, NY office. The ideal candidate will aid the International Growth team with assorted research projects – macro and company specific to assist on primary research.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Create and maintain various databases, screens and valuation tables designed to assess prospective and current investments. 
  • Assist Portfolio Managers and Analysts to identify risk/opportunities, build financial models and gain value individual companies.
  • Monitor news releases, SEC filings, industry papers and brokerage reports for the team’s reference.
  • Perform ad hoc projects including building company models, industry reports and presenting conclusions to the team.

 

Ideal Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting, international relations/economics.
  • Strong analytical skills and an attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High proficiency in all Microsoft applications, especially Excel.
  • Agile learner; can quickly come up to speed with the business.
  • Innovative thinker; can take a fresh look on current processes and identify new and creative ways to challenge the status quo
  • Ability to multi-task and organize to meet deadlines.
  • Proactive and resourceful, with both a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • A passion for learning about financial markets.

 

The intern salary range is targeted for $27 to $37 hourly. Pay offered may vary depending on function, location, experience, year in school.
