About the Summer Analyst Internship:
The Summer Analyst Internship program offers an opportunity for college undergraduates interested in finance and corporate / investment banking to actively participate in this fast-paced and challenging industry. We provide our Summer Analysts with the tools necessary for professional growth and career advancement. The goal of the Summer Analyst program is to develop the ideal candidate into a U.S. Analyst – coverage analyst position upon graduation.
Responsibilities vary depending on the team, but generally include:
- Assist in preparation of proposals and pitches to the clients in coordination with the relationship managers.
- Participate in preparation of the business opportunity memorandum as well as credit applications, including a description of the transaction, presentation of the main features, especially focusing on risk analysis.
- Perform complex financial modelling and valuations analysis in Excel, including development of new models (from scratch) and manipulation of exiting (e.g. sell-side or client) models.
- Assist in the diligence process by reviewing project documents (such as engineering reports, power purchase agreements and other project related contracts), financial and legal reports and other documentation.
- Support compliance efforts including new Client on-boarding and Client periodic reviews.
- Liaise among various internal and external stakeholders including middle and back office, Agent Banks and participating Banks involved on the ongoing portfolio management of loan transactions.
- Support the transaction management work in relation to the existing portfolio of transactions.
- Assist to prepare annual reviews including all the internal worksheets and applications (rating grid, environmental screening, profitability calculation, Know–Your-Customer forms and other compliance items).
- Assist to prepare material for approval of waivers and amendments.
- Assist to respond to internal requests, including audit, internal control, and new activity & product committee.
- Support research, analysis and preparation of presentations and other materials to proactively understand client needs and originate new business.
- Participate in preparation of special projects / ad hoc analysis.
- Stay up to date on industry news, trends, and actively participate in idea generation.
- Engage in shadowing opportunities which include collaborating with senior and junior mentors, completing assigned projects, attending meetings, giving presentations, participating in formal training, attending speaker series, networking, and social events.

Latin America
EIG LatAm is the regional platform for the Energy & Infrastructure Group (within ERA) in Latin America. As such, the team covers all sectors for EIG, notably: Power, Infrastructure, Mining and Oil & Gas (midstream and downstream). The Team acts in several roles within these sectors, including project finance arranging, advisory and from time to time undertakes some coverage responsibilities. Key markets for the team are Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile and Brazil. The team is responsible for originating and executing transactions within this platform, as well as monitoring our portfolio of assets and managing exposures.
North America
The portfolio management team is focused on managing a large and diverse portfolio of project financings covering the North American energy & infrastructure sectors. They also support the business origination teams in their efforts to process credit applications and close financings.
Real Estate International
Credit analysis for Commercial Real Estate structure transactions for a portfolio of customers and prospects of the Real Estate, Lodging & Gaming Group. This group performs tasks necessary for securing credit approvals, documentation review, and administration of all credit exposures (single asset financings, portfolio financings, corporate financings, and other derivatives/structured deals).
Shipping and Intermodal
The Shipping Group coverage is based on a “product neutral” approach to solve client needs leveraging on the respective product lines of the bank (ECM, DCM, Securitization, Corp. Finance, etc.…). It entails debt origination, including managing a debt financing mandate from first client contact, negotiating, and structuring a full-term sheet, preparing and submitting a loan application based on a rigorous risk analysis of the project, seeing the application through the credit process, and then documenting and closing the debt facility with the support of external legal advisers.
Advisory
The Energy & Infrastructure Group (EIG) within CACIB is a worldwide team dedicated to Power & Utilities, Natural Resources & Infrastructure. We combine our deep understanding of global and regional markets and our strong structuring capabilities with an in-depth knowledge of the business strategy and goals of our international clients. In the U.S., the EIG Advisory team supports clients with structuring and raising capital (senior, mezz., HoldCo, pref., etc.), commercial advisory (structuring and negotiations for PPPs, PPAs, etc.) and works closely with the Mergers and Acquisitions team on complex M&A transactions.
Transportation
Credit Agricole CIB is a worldwide leader in aircraft and rail financing and has received many awards over the last 25 years. The team works with airlines, lessors, and rail companies based in North America and Latin America to structure and arrange tailor-made financing solutions across a wide range of products and markets.
Minimum Qualifications:
- College junior pursuing a degree in Finance or a related field
- You must be eligible to work in the United States
- You will not require visa sponsorship for employment in the US now or in the future including OPT and F-1 visa.
Preferred Qualifications:
Leadership Skills
- Highly motivated and able to work independently, able to manage competing responsibilities and deadlines in a timely and efficient manner while working under pressure.
- Strong interest in the energy and infrastructure / asset-backed financing sectors.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and able to take direction with limited oversight.
- Proficient in English. Basic knowledge in Spanish is desirable (to work in Latin American transactions), but it is not required. Knowledge of French is a plus (but not required).
Technical Knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of major computer applications including Excel, PowerPoint and Word, knowledge of finance applications (Bloomberg, CapitalIQ, etc…) is a plus.
- Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of accounting and financial statements and financial analysis techniques including risk/return concepts and tools.
- Some financial modelling skills, ideally project finance modelling.
- Ability to perform research, analysis and synthesizing of materials in a professional setting.
