The North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board has two openings for full-time Environmental Scientists in the Planning Unit. These positions will be located at either our Santa Rosa or Eureka office. Our Santa Rosa office is located at 5550 Skylane Blvd., Suite A, Santa Rosa, CA 95403 in the heart of beautiful Sonoma County, which is known for its great restaurants and excellent outdoor recreation opportunities. The Eureka office is located at 930 6th St., Eureka, CA 95501 near redwood forests and beautiful Humboldt Bay.

 Duties: The duties of this position are outlined in the Duty Statement and focus on the development of watershed assessments (including Total Maximum Daily Loads [TMDLs]), water quality standards, and implementation plans. The incumbent is required to work independently, participate as a member and/or lead multidisciplinary project teams, develop and track project workplans and schedules, facilitate or lead meetings with diverse groups to coordinate, collaborate, and meet project, program, or organizational objectives. The incumbent is required to manage multiple tasks and become proficient at planning investigations, gathering, interpreting, and disseminating complex environmental data, writing scientific reports, presenting information to boards and groups in a public setting, and making recommendations to management. The position requires strong writing, public speaking, and communication skills, application of sound science, public engagement, interagency collaboration, and effective time management. Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
