Career Advising Intern
The Career Advising Intern will have a combination of responsibilities including 1:1 student interaction, career education through classes and workshops, as well as programming and career resource development.
Job Duties
• Provide individual career advising for clients on career-related topics including job application documents, interviewing, job & internship searching, LinkedIn/networking, graduate school, and career exploration
• Educate students on career development topics through delivering presentations/workshops
• Assist/lead with tabling events across campus
• Support the marketing/promotion of available career resources for students and alumni
• Assist with Career Services, Strategic Enrollment Management, and University-wide events.
Minimum Qualifications
• Current UI student with at least junior standing at the time of the internship
• Minimum of a 2-semester commitment
• Previous experience in an internship or other experiential learning opportunity (club leadership, study abroad, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills—both public speaking and interpersonal • Excellent writing skills
• Must be able to work well in a team and independently
• Good critical thinking skills
• Must be able to work nights and weekends on occasion
Preferred Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program
• Experience delivering student centered customer service
• Extensive experience delivering presentations
• Additional campus involvement and/or leadership experience
