PJM Interconnection is a regional transmission organization (RTO) that plays a vital role in the U.S. electric system. PJM ensures the reliability of the largest centrally dispatched control area in North America by coordinating the movement of electricity in all or parts of 13 states. PJM, acting neutrally and independently, operates the largest 
competitive wholesale electricity market in the world. PJM manages a sophisticated regional planning process for generation and transmission expansion to assure 
future electric.

Application Development is responsible for building and maintaining custom applications that support PJM’s core business functions in Operations, Markets, Planning and CCS. We design, implement and enhance internal and external-facing applications to streamline operations for internal teams and make it easier for members to do business with PJM. 

The co-op will learn PJM business areas and ITS software development processes on projects like the Effective Load Carrying Capability (ELCC) Calculator, Pnode Substitution and PJM Tools migrations to Microsoft Azure cloud. Application Development co-ops also learn how to manage applications throughout their lifecycle by working on bug fixes, enhancements and security upgrades. Co-ops can get hands-on with many technologies including Python, NET, MS Azure and React.

 Required Skills: 

  • Programming in a high-level language
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Curious and self-motivated
  • Efficient at using AI-assisted coding tools

Preferred Skills:

  • Python
  • Data Science tools and libraries (Databricks, Pandas, etc.)
  • Relational databases and SQL
  • Java or .NET
  • Web technologies (HTML, CSS, Javascript)

PJM will not be providing Housing/Transportation assistance, the successful candidate must be able to come on-campus when needed.
