Power Systems Modeling Co-op
PJM Interconnection is a regional transmission organization (RTO) that plays a vital role in the U.S. electric system. PJM ensures the reliability of the largest centrally dispatched control area in North America by coordinating the movement of electricity in all or parts of 13 states. PJM, acting neutrally and independently, operates the largest
competitive wholesale electricity market in the world. PJM manages a sophisticated regional planning process for generation and transmission expansion to assure
future electric.
The Power System Modeling (PSM) department is responsible for updating and maintaining the Energy Management System (EMS) that is used by PJM to operate the electric grid. PSM interacts with Transmission Owners, and various departments within PJM to ensure the EMS has the most up to date substation configurations, equipment, and parameters for both current day, and what is changing in the next 6-9 months. PSM is also responsible for maintaining the Model Manager tool used to capture all model updates, graphical drawings, metering, and equipment ratings.
The principle job responsibilities of the PSM co-op are:

- Assist Model Engineers with tasks related to modeling, design documentation, and testing of new features and tools for the Model Management system as needed.
