Assistant Region Administrator – Development (WMS Band 4)

Spokane, WA – Eastern Region 

$122,544 – $157,164 Annually

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) – Eastern Region (ER) is seeking a licensed professional engineer with a history of success in the management and delivery of high-profile transportation programs and services. As a principal assistant to the Regional Administrator, this individual is a key member of the Eastern Region executive management team. 
 
Responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership, this position oversees and administers the ER Project Development Program which includes preliminary engineering, environmental, and real estate services functional areas. This position provides leadership, management, oversight and administration of the ER Project Development Program consisting of 65 to 115 full time employees. Also, oversees the development of plans, contract specifications and cost estimates delivered by WSDOT engineering staff periodically supported by a robust consultant effort. The Assistant Regional Administrator (ARA) for Development will supervise and oversee an operating budget ranging from $10 to $30 million annually for preliminary engineering and $15 to $25 million annually for right of way. The annual ER Development Program includes approximately 30 projects with a total construction value of approximately $150 - $200 million of construction biennially. Through the Design and Project Development Approval Authority of this position, projects in the ER are advertised with assurance that appropriate policies and procedures governing engineering design, environmental review, and right of way acquisition have been followed.
