Construction Inspection Co-Op

POSITION INFORMATION 

DGL is looking for a self-motivated individual to enhance the capacity of our Technical Services Division. As a multi-disciplinary engineering, surveying and construction management firm, success in this position will require the ability to monitor and record daily construction activities and provide overall project support as necessary. 

• Reports to Director of Technical Services 

• 1-3 years construction inspection experience preferred 

• Part-time, Non-Exempt 

• Night Work Required 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Include but are not limited to the following: 

• Work under the supervision of a resident construction engineer, project manager or senior-level team member on active construction sites 

• Provide field construction inspection and administration support on construction projects • Communicate with Division leaders for understanding of project scope 

• Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools (technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications) 

• Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables and figures 

• Follow instructions/engage with engineers, surveyors, technicians and inspectors 

• Coordinate with contractors, engineers and surveyors on project requirements 

• Obtain and maintain safety training as required 

• Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public and abide local, company and client safety requirements. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel. 

SKILL SET 

• Willingness to gain experience with applicable computer software 

• Ability to communicate effectively; speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation

 • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on difficult terrain • Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds and complete daily physical labor 

• Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy, organization and within established deadlines

• Ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner 

• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors and the general public 

• Valid Driver’s License required with a favorable driving record 

EDUCATION 

• Associate’s Degree in relevant field and/or High School Diploma
