Communicate, ask questions (lots of them), and do not be afraid to work on something you never have before! This is how you gain experience.

Mechanical Engineering Intern
June 2018 • Lynchburg, VA
What I liked
The engineers are extraordinarily friendly and willing to answer any and all questions. The work was challenging and I was given the opportunity to present the work that I performed to the a VP which was both exciting and terrifying. Also, the interns almost won a game of company jeopardy and we were awarded gift cards to Dunkin Donuts and quality bluetooth speakers which is a huge plus.
What I wish was different
I wish that the engineers were more willing and ready to involve myself and another intern in actual engineering work from the start. I understand most internships work this way, but I do wish I could have been more challenged initially.
Advice
Asking questions is crucial to being successful in any internship. Ask questions of your coworkers, your friends, the internet. Ask questions; find solutions; solve problems; you will grow.
