Working in a government office with clear organization. The job also has clear ties to current events internationally.
What I wish was different
The onboarding process was very slow.
Advice
Applying for a job with the DoD is always going to a slow process, but just make sure all of the information get where it needs to go. Confirming reciept of documents with the intended recipient if possible never hurts.

NREIP Intern
June - August 2017 • China Lake, CA
What I liked
The people I met while on the job were very welcoming and fun to be around. It w the s a very casual setting, and I didn't have to dress up for it.
What I wish was different
I wish they had been more prepared to take on interns; I didn't wind up having the same experience as other interns before me. This experience taught me what I do NOT want to do with my life. There were too many tasks involving statistics.
Advice
Be very careful not to talk about the specifics of this job; doing so can get you in a lot of trouble, since this internship is with the Navy.

What I liked
Very easy going atmosphere which made me feel very comfortable their. Every other Friday we had off. Assignments that were handed out were very concise and help/clarification was given when asked. There were plenty of intramurals, and bowling to do during lunch, with a free gym on base also, which was very cool.
What I wish was different
Nothing
Advice
Communicate with as many people there as possible. Reach out, make connections, learn as much as possible while there.

Software Development Intern
June - August 2017 • Lakehurst, NJ
What I liked
I was able to take on a lot of projects by myself. Working independently was a great learning experience. Whenever I had questions, I also had a mentor that helped me succeed.
What I wish was different
More training. I was basically thrown into a project right away, and even though this is similar to the real world, it was my first internship so I was a bit intimidated.
Advice
Don't get too stressed out easily. You're an intern and you're there to learn so don't care what other people think of you.
