I had hands-on experience in the field of Inmate Counseling. I spent 5 hours a day on the units with Inmates in Manhattan Detention Center conducting both individual and group counseling. Being this is the environment I plan on pursuing a career in, this experience is priceless. My team of counselors was also amazing, and made me feel comfortable, safe and capable.
What I wish was different
I wish that the internship was more clinical/psychology based, versus social work.
