The people here are so friendly. The IT group immediately put me to work on a real project that impacted the company, but they were always available if I had questions and to help me learn.
What I wish was different
I had one project for the entire summer. While it was nice to feel the accomplishment when I finished such a big project, it could also be monotonous at times and I wish that there had been a few projects I could rotate between.
Advice
You will likely be the only intern in your department so go to all the events that they put on for interns and make friends. Also, talk to your colleagues, everyone will treat you as an equal.

Fire Protection Engineering Intern
May - August 2018 • Aiken, SC
What I liked
Getting to see all of the facilities the company works with. As a Fire Protection Engineer I worked with many different groups so I got to go out and see things rather than just sit in an office.
What I wish was different
There was a manager change while I worked there and while I enjoyed working under both people it did seem that I was a bit of an afterthought for the new person as he was busy acclimating himself to his new position.
Advice
Acting like a professional goes along way. Also don't be worried about speeding through work. Take the time to do it well the first time and double check it. That way someone else doesn't have to correct your mistakes down the line.
